This is a short foreword to inform you of the development and release of the official Greenock and District Bowling Association website and to acknowledge those who have helped me build the content of the website.
Some years ago I was elected as a Director of the Association and in March at our AGM , I was privileged to become President . For over a year now I have been working to provide the Association with a website ,researching and recording what information I can find and that of interest to the local bowling community with the help of the Clubs and certain individuals.
I have engaged a close friend to help me with the technical side of things but have currently gathered and continue to gather information to add to the site.
At this time, I would like to thank , John Freeburn ,Past President of Grosvenor B.C. and Past President and Secretary of the Association for the early information of how the association was founded and records. To Sandy Reddy , Past President of Grosvenor B.C. and Past President of Renfrewshire Bowling Association , for his detailed information of all the Greenock and District Presidents and Winners of the Renfrewshire Bowling Association Championships and the many local bowlers for their help in data collection.
I hope you enjoy the content, albeit, it is a work in progress and I would be happy to post relevant information from the bowling community in general.
Robert Harron ,
President, Greenock and District Bowling Association 2014
President ,Gourock Park Bowling Club 2014
I would like to start by saying a few thank you's. Well done to Martin for Presiding over the previous year. A big thank you to my own club Gourock B.C. for putting me forward as a representative on the Greenock and District Committee. Also to Kerr Livingstone for all the help and encouragement. The past is repeating itself in the sense that this year but in reverse. In 2007 it was Kerr who was President of the G+D, a was President of Gourock B.C. This year I am President of the G+D while Kerr is President of Gourock B.C. I wish him and Gourock B.C. all the very best in their 150th year celebrations and also to the Ardgowan Club who celebrate their 175th anniversary this year.
Finally, a thank you to my wife Pauline and family for putting up with me and my bowling !!
